Update On Links

March 18, 2013 - I'm now using various file sites with varying success. With over 200 albums listed here, obviously I cannot upload everything at once. So if you're dying to hear something, please post a comment on that particular post and I will move it up in the priority queue. Enjoy!

Sweet As A Song

One of the great crooners, rivaling Bing Crosby. All one can do is listen and enjoy. This is the only Bowlly cd in my collection, however I have three or four LPs for which I'm in the process of ripping. They'll be posted sometime in the near future. I forgot to include it with the file, but a scan of the back cover with track and recording info is here. Enjoy. +

2. Sweet Someone
3. Colorado Sunset
4. Is That The Way To Treat A Sweetheart?
5. When Mother Nature Sings Her Lullaby
6. Two Sleepy People

Hi

Thanks for this great Al Bowwlly CD and for all your other great posts. Looking forward to more of Al and any other British Dance Bands or singers of the 20s - 50s.

Regards

Bob

You're both welcome. Bowlly is certainly one of those signature voices from the 30s, but I think a lot of credit has to go to both Ray Noble and Lew Stone as well. Good stuff. I'll post more as soon as I can finish ripping and tagging the tracks.

Hi there

Love your blog and this post in particular brought me here!

Wonder if we could exchange links to our respective sites?

Much appreciated

Thanks!

Just read his short-bio on last.fm:
"Bowlly was born in Mozambique to Greek and Lebanese parents who met en route to Australia and moved to South Africa. He was brought up in Johannesburg, South Africa, and killed by the explosion of a parachute mine outside his apartment in London during the Blitz."

Woah! :)
