Update On Links

March 18, 2013 - I'm now using various file sites with varying success. With over 200 albums listed here, obviously I cannot upload everything at once. So if you're dying to hear something, please post a comment on that particular post and I will move it up in the priority queue. Enjoy!

Shim-Me-Sha-Wabble

Life is full of good intentions, but it wasn't my goal to go so long between albums. That said, however, it is World Cup time, so it's still going to be a slow month for posting until it's over. The good news is that I've got a Mildred Baily LP set, some Bunny Berigan, and more Clarence Williams lined up. In the meantime, here is another selection from the McKinney's Cotton Pickers series. I find it a little odd that the label leap-frogged with the dates to include the latter Don Redman sides, especially considering that they have his work separately. But I guess that's what you get from a label that can't spell "chronological." Anyway, this set includes performances from Benny Carter, Doc Cheatham and more. Two versions of Chant of the Weed and Reefer Man leaves little doubt in my mind what the band did to relax. Enjoy. (and go Brasil!) +

Once i figured out how to get the link working I was astounded as usual. Insofar as you support the habs, I shall root for Brasil as well.

Hi Campbie, Was there a problem with the link? Or had you just not downloaded one previously?

Thanks for the reciprocity. :-)

Yeah, there's some bad coding in the link.

Chester,

I had no idea that you dug soccer. Good -- that's another thing we have in common! I am watching all the games on ESPN and ABC, and I am rooting both for the United States and Spain. Which is your team? And who do you think will win it this year?

Cheers,

Anton.

Hi Anton, yes I love futebol. My team is Brasil but I am rooting for Spain as well (I am wearing the 1998 Spain shirt today, let's hope that they do better this time!). I also am hoping that Mexico, Uruguay, Paraguay & Chile do well because they are all underdogs. I used to like France, but I am part Irish so when Thierry Henry cheated that was the end of French football for me. (and what a mess they have there now!). LOL. Spain's game begins in 35 minutes and I just found a bar in Sao Paulo to watch it in. Vamos España! A Brasil-Spain final would be fantastic.

Chester,

Just saw the Spain vs. Honduras game that ended a few minutes ago. Spain played with no verve but won easily and should've scored more than just two goals. The final two games in that group are going to be really heart-stopping, since there are three teams now that stand a chance of getting through to the next round. I would really like to see Portugal do well this year, but I think that they're lacking the necessary team spirit to win it (in spite of their stunning 7-0 victory against North Korea this morning). I think Germany, Brazil, and Argentina stand a pretty good chance to prevail in the end, although I do agree that a Brazil vs. Spain final would be a great game (the way things are going, it looks as though they might meet before the final, though...).

Cheers,

Anton.

I thought Torres was a bit off with his shooting, but he seems to have his strength back which is very good. I think he's one of the top 5 players around. I'm sure Spain will do well against Chile. Brasil doesn't have a lock on their group either, so the last round here will definitely be very exciting.
