Corrected info!
Apologies to all who downloaded the previous link! And thanks to those who let me know about the discrepancy. Ok - let's try this one again. I don't know how I managed to mislabel a rip, but the file that I thought was 1939 is in fact Ella singing with Chick Webb's Orchestra 1937-1938. This, despite the fact that I listened to the entire cd twice to make sure that there were no errors! All you should need to do is rename the folder, as the song files should all be fine otherwise. I have also updated the track listing below. No bubble gum this trip, but now I think I'll re-rip the other Ella cds I have just to make sure everything is okay the next time. Enjoy.+
Tracks
1. Big Boy Blue
2. Dedicated to You
3. You Showed Me the Way
4. Cryin' Mood
5. Love Is the Thing So They Say
6. All or Nothing at All
7. If You Ever Should Leave
8. Everyone's Wrong But Me
9. Deep in the Heart of the South
10. Just a Simple Melody
11. I Got a Guy
12. Holiday in Harlem
13. Rock It for Me
14. I Want to Be Happy
15. The Dipsy Doodle
16. If Dreams Come True
17. Hallelujah
18. Bei Mir Bist du Schön

Update On Links
March 18, 2013 - I'm now using various file sites with varying success. With over 200 albums listed here, obviously I cannot upload everything at once. So if you're dying to hear something, please post a comment on that particular post and I will move it up in the priority queue. Enjoy!

Way too much time & downloads since I last said thanks...
Your work is very much appreciated. I was just listening to www.the1920snetwork.com and recognized a few of the singers so had I had to come by here and tell you that you're the one responsible for extending my musical horizon to early jazz, big bands, crooners or simply just great music.
Thanks so very much!
All the Best!
Shango, my pleasure - though all the credit goes to the music. Check out Radiola too, because if you can't catch it live you can download cd-quality copies of the show. Hot Jazz Saturday Night is another really good show, and they post streaming audio every week. Plus, the host Rob Bamberger is very knowledgeable.
Thank you very much
Do you have anything by Al Jolson from the 1910s or 1920s?
Barak, I've got an Italian cd of Jolson from that era as well as some 78s which I've recorded and am trying to clean up somewhat. I'll see if I can find some time to post them sooner rather than later. I've also got some from the 40s which will make it here eventually.
Chester; just dnloaded "taint what you do" but noooooo it's ella classics chronological 1939. where is my bubble gum...I'll take ella anytime, anyday, anywhere. Is that a red packard you drive?
That would be very nice
I wish I had a Packard! I love those cars. Actually, the name of this blog comes from a song called "Page Mr. Volstead" by Bob Miller. I intended to create a banner with a scene from a speakeasy, a bootlegger's car, etc., but due to lack of time I just plugged in the first cool looking jpeg I found. One of these days I'll get that finished.
Enjoy the bubble gum - just don't leave it under your seat!

Hello Chester,
No problem with the slight discrepency. I have had a similar misfortune happen to myself when uploading a playlist for my Multiply blog. I had 15 comments pointing out my terrible blunder. At the time of posting I had just finished a 12 hour night shift. Some people are never satisfied!
keep up the good work.
Highest regards
Bob
Thanks, Bob. Fortunately, I've not been the target of wrath by any ingrates thus far. Though the comments are few, most people seem to appreciate the effort. Although the music is offered for free, as a downloader myself I appreciate that no one likes wasting dl bandwidth. So if I screw up, I don't mind it being brought to my attention. But 15 times? LOL, that's a bit much.
Please, give me the password to make the downloads. Ronaldo Benvenga , from Brasil.
